As
an oral tradition it is said that it is not the current town,
that the original town was founded next to the Lerma River,
close to the “El Salto” Waterfall.
It
is an indigenous town, which name means “Place of mesquites
or capuli”.
The
house next to the temple was founded by the Augustinian monks
who lived in Ucareo and came to the Lerma River to protect themselves
from cold weather.
