55
kilometers from Zamora
La
Piedad is a city located north of Zamora. Both cities are crossed
by the Mexico-Guadalajara highway, putting them in an unbeatable
position in relation with the two most important poles of development
of the country. La Piedad has taken advantage of being neighbor
to the state of Guanajuato, keeping its growth in the industrial
sector constant, mainly in the pork area and in the sport clothes
production. The states are united through the "Cabados"
Bridge, which was built of pink stone in 1833. Some workshops
with antique looms are still kept and used to make the fine
shawls of "Santa Maria". You can't miss visiting the
majestic, enormous and precious Parish of the Lord of Mercy;
also a few kilometers from Zamora, we find the 25 meter high
waterfall "El Salto", which is formed by the descent
of the waters of the Lerma River.
