It has a pleasant climate and varied gastronomy, based mainly on sea products, as an example of this we find the exquisite stuffed fish: shrimp, octopus and a special sauce prepared in a "molcajete" is added to the fish fillet, then it is folded, fried and enjoyed. Food like this and other delights are eaten happily beneath the shade of the arbors (palapas) that are found a short distance from the sea, refresh the palate with a juicy coconut and watch the immensity of the sea.

One of the main activities is the annual event known as " October…month of the "marine turtle", whose object is to foment the ecological conscience, setting more than 5,000 young turtles free. The event pretends to rescue traditions like the "baile de tarima" in which the music, typical dances, and traditional outfits are shown. There are also four campgrounds that work from June to December, in pro of the conservation of the marine turtle.

Playa Azul, Barra de Pichi, Barra del Tigre, and Betula (the sunken ship): are all together a tourist destiny with hotel accommodation and services only 22 kilometers from Lazaro Cardenas.
